Community Retreats Each semester, students plan and host a retreat open to the entire community. Retreats include prayer experiences, Mass, a chance to meet new people, and to deepen your relationship with God. Typically, community retreats are held in Watch Hill, RI at a retreat house on the ocean. We leave on Friday evenings and return Saturday evening after dinner. Dates for 2009-10: October 30-31, 2009 & March 12-13, 2010. In addition to "going to church," we learn to "be church for one another" and apply the word of God to our daily lives. They are a chance to slow down, reflect, and grow closer to others and to God. Each week, small groups gather to examine the upcoming Sunday Scriptures together and to check in on one another. We share successes and struggles in faith and work to "live the Gospel" week by week. Groups will begin meeting in mid-September. Coordinator: Michael Antosh GS & Angie Howard McParland
Friday Fellowship is a gathering on Friday evenings, usually once a month, for social activities such as movies, game nights or other fun. Watch the calendar and the Cenacle for what's coming up! Coordinator: Meghan Short '12 Theology on Tap Held in a bar or restaurant setting, Theology on Tap is a casual gathering for a presentation by a speaker followed by discussion. To help organize Theology on Tap programs, please contact Angie. To learn more about Theology on Tap as a nationwide phenomenon among young adult Catholics, visit www.renewtot.org. Bible Study Upon student request, we have Bible studies based on specific topics or particular books of the Bible. For spring 2009 and the Year of St. Paul, we looked at 1 Corinthians from a historical and modern-day perspective. To start a Bible Study or suggest a topic/area of interest, contact Angie. Graduate Students Graduate members of the community gather for discussions, social outings, or dinners. All disciplines are welcome and encouraged to plan activities! Coordinator: Michael Antosh GS |
